Re: [GSAS-board] RE: Interview request for Seattle Public Radio 7/25

This is really cool... I'm off at the ACA convention & will be coming back (with both kids on plane) quite dissheveled Sunday night. Funny, I was just listening to Weekday last monday -- they had a bunch of kids reviewing the latest Harry Potter book.

Your organization is what I'm after. I assume as hobbyists your group
members are self taught and extremely passionate about fish?

If that is an accurate assumption, we would love to have someone on to
discuss fresh-water fish and the necessary aquarium accommodations to keep
healthy and happy fish friends.

Here is how we described the show:

At Weekday we take your questions about gardening every single week. We take
your questions about the news, what books to read, how to fix your home, and
cure your animals. But what about your fish? Who hasn't owned a goldfish
in their life? What went wrong with Goldie before he was flushed into the
great beyond? Can any creature really be happy in a bowl? And if you like
fish and own an aquarium, what species go well together? How do you control
temperatures, plant growth and PH? How can you determine a good fish at the
store? Can a fish be loveable?

What do you think? Could someone join us?

Thanks,

Kristi

Hi Kristi,

Thank you for your inquiry. I feel that I had better be sure that we were
your intended recipients. It really is quite common for people to mistake
our group (GREATER Seattle Aquarium Society) with the other, much larger and
famous, Seattle Aquarium Society. Our group is made up of home hobbyists
that have a love for mainly fresh-water aquariums. The other group is, of
course, affiliated with the Seattle Aquarium on Pier 59 on the Waterfront.
Our two groups are totally unrelated and have very different focuses and
different levels of expertise.

If we truly were your intended recipients, then we can check with some of
our more experienced members to see if any of them would be interested in
your offer for an on-air interview. Please let me know; and, thanks again.

Rick Rose

Hi Rick, Susan, Paul, and Sandu,

I see that the Greater Seattle Aquarium Society's staff is on summer break,
but I am wondering if I could talk to someone about having an aquarium
expert in to our studio at KUOW Public Radio next Monday, July 25th from
10-11 am PDT to talk about fish?

This has been a topic we have been interested in for some time, but without
the experts necessary to join us. We were hoping someone from your
organization could help us round out a small panel of aquarium fish experts.

If one of you could give me a call or email back as soon as you get a chance
(pesky deadlines) I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks so much,

Kristi Remkus
