I like that idea, Paul. Since I don’t live up there, I don’t know which ones would be within that 10 mile radius. If we get positive support for doing this, someone will just have to tell me which stores that would be.

While we all appreciate the support in terms of donations from the sponsor stores I do not think we should set a precedent by issuing coupons for a specific store.

If anything the discount coupon should be applicable to any of the stores located within the same 10+ mile radius (and there are several). I would hate to see a sponsor feel "left out".

There are more than one pet shop that sponsor our club, and I don’t know if GSAS must "give back," from its own budget, to a particular one, but I am positive that, at an individual level, our members always returned the favor, and we, as a club, have been promoting our sponsors name at any auction, if not more often.

I’d like to see some discussion on this (see below, copied from my earlier email.) If we’re going to do something, we need to be contacting Sierra Fish and Pets today or tomorrow.

Meredith had a great idea. When she went to the picnic site to scope it out, she stopped by Sierra fish and Pets and got her GSAS discount on her 1st cichlids. She checked and they will be open on August 20th. Her idea was to get a coupon or something so people will stop and say hello to them. The manager was there when she visited and clearly remembered what they donated to the auction.

I think this would be a good way for us (GSAS) to "give back" to one of our sponsors.

What kind of coupon did you have in mind, Meredith? Would it be like a "$1.00-off" funded by the club and good only that day, or what?
