Hello Board Members:
I received a very nice 40-gallon glass aquarium from Gregg Bleakney, before he went on his transcontinental cycling ride for diabetes, starting from the tip of Alaska and ending at the southern most point in South America. His website chronicling his cycling trips is below.
Gregg wishes his tank to go to a young aquarium enthusiast. It is my feeling, that aquariums for our younger members are easily acquired, so I have another idea. I have moved to a low-income tax-shelter spectacular family-housing complex in Mill Creek. There are lots of children here, and it is my feeling that many of them would love to have such an aquarium. Furthermore, the tank has maple cabinetry with a black glass door, that would match the décor of the apartments here, since they all have the same light maple cabinets, and all-black kitchen appliances.
I was thinking, as a Christmas present, a special child here could receive the tank and stand as a gift, and perhaps whatever else we could drum up to outfit it. Perhaps an essay contest would be the way to pick the winner in the complex monthly flyer.
Another option is that there is also a YMCA childcare center on the complex grounds, and the aquarium could be set up there and maintained by yours truly. All these ideas could be talked about at our next meeting and then presented to the apartment complex, and emailed to Gregg, who is visiting maintaining e-mail on his cycling adventure.
I think this would be a way to branch out to community and increase aquarium interest to a naturalist. I am also proud to announce that I can finally offer the board a meeting here at my home, for the very first time.
Sincerely,
Miss Susan Welenofsky - Treasurer
