Hi Paul,
If you don’t want to digest this looooooooong email strand, then the just of the question is…
For Nathan Saint Clair’s software demo at the board meeting this Thursday evening, would there be high-speed internet capability at your house for his laptop to connect to?
Thanks, Rick

Yes, because it is a web application, it’d be nice to be able to connect and demo thorough highspeed.

Are you asking if there is high-speed internet at the house where we’ll meet, or something else?
Rick

Hrmm, I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. Will there be high speed, I do have laptop that I can demo on.

Well, I was hoping to see it on a computer screen – I just wasn’t sure 6 people justified a projector. Am I right that you have a notebook computer that could be used to demo your software?
Rick

Well, I probably don’t need one for that small of an audience. I’ll just make a couple hand outs and talk about what my application does and maybe where your members may find it useful. Does that sound ok?

Hi Nathan,
First, we anticipated about 30 minutes (including question/answer time) so I think we’re on the same page time-wise. Would you need a projector for the board meeting? There will be 5 or 6 people at most. If, on the other hand, you’re asking about a projector for the possible presentation to out entire club, then the answer is, “Yes,” we have a computer/projector/screen at our club-meeting location. If you think that it’s necessary to have a projector at the board meeting, then I can ask one of the board members if he can come up with one – please let me know what you think.
Thanks, Rick

Thanks, I know I asked you this before, but do you guys have a projector? I’d like to do a powerpoint presentation. I could use 15 to 20 minutes. Or I could do more or less, whatever you think is appropriate.

How much time will you require for your presentation? Just let me know and we’ll plan accordingly. We usually arrive sometime between 6:30 and 7:00 and eat a few snacks until the meeting starts (shortly after 7:00pm.) We will plan to start with your presentation so that you don’t have to sit through and endure all the other discussion. After your demo is finished, you’ll be free to go and we’ll contact you within a day or two as to whether we think a complete presentation would be a good fit at one of our general club meetings. By the way, January has been filled, and February is our annual Plant auction, so the next available time would be March.
I’m looking forward to meeting you and seeing what you’ve developed.

Hi Rick:
Am I still on for the 17th? Have you nailed down an address yet?
Thanks.

Hi Nathan,
Yes; I did receive your email. I will move your presentation to the November 17th board meeting. I won’t know at which board member’s house that meeting will be located until after our October 20th meeting. So, If you haven’t heard from me by the end of October, go ahead and send me another email.
We’ll see you in November.

HI Rick, did you get my email saying I’d like to go for the 20th? I think I’d like to try instead for November 17th. Is that still an option? If not I can do October 20. Also, I need an address where I’ll need to be.
Thanks again.

Hi Nathan,
The GSAS Board of Directors would like to invite you to present a demo of your software at an upcoming board meeting. This could be either Thursday, October 20, or Thursday, November 17. We meet at alternating board members’ homes and begin about 6:30pm.
Please let me know which, if either, of these dates will work for you and I’ll get you on the agenda.
Thanks,
Rick Rose GSAS President

Great! Thank you so much for your quick response. I see you’re a night owl like myself! If January is the earliest I can get a slot, I’ll take it. But, if anyone is interested in seeing a demo prior to January, I’d also be more than happy to oblige. In case anyone wants to know, my system manages data, including feeding tracking, feeding inventory management, feed purchase order creation, tank inventory management, PitTag tracking, and lots of other stuff. Thanks again for the response.

Hi Nathan,
We’re always looking for something new and different to highlight at our meetings. I would like to arrange a preview of your software with our webmaster/tech-guy if a mutually agreeable time can be found or possibly with the board. If your presentation does ultimately fill one of our meeting slots, I believe our earliest opening would be January 2006.
Let me discuss this with our webmaster, the rest of the board, and also with our programs director and I will get back to you.
Thanks,
Rick Rose GSAS President

Hi Mr. Rose:
I got your email from the Greater Seattle Aquarium society web site. I’m writing because I have been developing some fish farm management software and I’m wondering if I can interest any of your members in becoming test users. I’ve been working on this software for about 5 years and it’s web based, so you don’t need to install anything. I know your members may not be Fish Farms per se, but I’m actually wanting to work with some aquariums to see if I can make it work for aquarium needs too.
I’d be happy to come to a meeting any give a demo or meet with anyone who is interested. Thanks a lot for taking the time to read this message and I hope to hear back from you.
-Nathan
