So, would we require members to enter passwords to read the archive or would
we just not offer the ability to view the archived messages?

Anyone can sue anyone in this country. Having been involved personally in
one such suit, without any merit whatsoever, I speak from experience. It
ruined a small part of our life for over two years.
But I still beleive that this should not stifle discussion.
The fact that GSAS uses a mailing list rather than a forum means the
discussions sit only on the archive, which we could make private at any
time.
