This was another thing that hit me while I was finishing up the DVD -- boy this was a winner year for big speakers (thanks Bob!). It occured to me that some of the new folks on the board might not realize that five big speakers is pretty unusual for a season... when Kathy was arranging the speakers, we only pulled off five speakers for one year (her last), and it darned near killed us hosting them all. Most of the years we only had budget (and connections) to fly in one or two people of this calibre. Of the ten meetings, we'd usually do "show-n-tell/we're-not-ready" in September, the Christmas party, the two auctions, one or two big-name folks, and then we'd dig up four or five club members to talk the rest of the time. It will be OK next year. Just start working on those talks. :) Also of note: Assuming the June issue comes out, Steev will have completed the first full 10-issue run of newsletters GSAS since the 1998-1999 season---someone give him a FAAS medallion! - Erik -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com _______________________________________________ GSAS-board mailing list GSAS-board@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/gsas-board
