Re: [GSAS-board] Members requesting e-mail newsletters

Let's have a sign-up sheet at the meeting too? Steev, if you can give me a
list of those that want email form.

Subject: [GSAS-board] Members requesting e-mail newsletters

Hi Steev, et. al.

I have added a field to the user database, "EmailNewsletter", that can be
set to 1 to indicate that the user prefers their newsletter to be
e-mailed. Feel free to start setting this value in response to people on
the list.

Sometime later, I will create a script that generates an appropriate
e-mail list every time it is run. And if you're happy enough to not send
paper copies, I will further modify the label generator to not include
those folks in the paper version.

One word of warning: Without the paper labels, there will need to be
another means of notifying the person that they're about to expire. This
all could also be worked into an automated e-mail system in the future
that would send a simple message with the link to the PDF and information
about expiration time, like this:

"Dear Flying Fish Aquariums,

Your November GSAS newsletter is here! Please click on
  http://www.gsas.org/newsletters/123saba.pdf to read

Your membership expires on June 12th. Click <here> to renew today using
PayPal, or send your check for $231 to Susan, blah blah blah."
