Don Bertellotti was instrumental in the runnings of the GSAS for many years. He did much of the work that allowed us to put on public fish shows in the 70s. At a few of our shows he took on the position of head of security for the event. He helped with the newsletter (printing, collating, and advertising accounts) and various programs, chairing the monthly Bowl Show which was a popular part of our meetings for many years. He raised a lot of fish and entered fish in a lot of fish shows. One of his prize-winning specimens was a fully grown (gigantic) Red Devil cichlid that displayed near-perfect color, behavior, and finnage. It was such an impressive fish that it consistently took awards for People's Choice as well as Best-in-Show. Don was a certified fish show judge himself and traveled around the state to judge many shows put on by other clubs. He also kept a few bass in his tanks being an avid fisherman and active member of the Bass Masters organization. I think it would be a good idea to accept these awards and use them in club applications. It wouldn't hurt to recognize Don's activity in GSAS at the same time. We might also tell Mr. Peter Bertellotti that we would gratefully accept any other GSAS material and memorabilia that document Don's contributions to our club.
