Board,

I have a friend in town and I may not be able to make it to this meeting. It's up in the air. 

The only thing I wanted to discuss was the home show. Actually, not so much of a discussion as soliciting your concerns and ideas... so if I can't make it, think over what I am writing below, and contact me. 

In January, I want to circulate the rules to the members, and begin signing up the judges and photographers. I'd like to have a few different categories, but since we won't have a million participants, it really should be only a few. (Do you think we need a kid's category? Are there enough in club families?)

I will send the board a draft of my proposed rules soon for discussion. Essentially, judging would be based on points, probably spread across 3-4 categories like "Overall Appearance," "Difficulty," etc. In addition I would like the members to vote on their favorite(s) at the presentation. 

I'm a game designer, so figuring out contest rules is right up my alley. :)
