[GSAS-board] GSAS support (fwd)

Board:

I have two offers of support from Doran (home business) waiting on a finished
website and Fairwood Pet Center (below). Any ideas other than reposting on the
GSAS member list and/or newsletter? Last week was nuts as we moved the lab. I
look forward to an easy week with Steve on Tuesday (Marcy is arranging a hotel
room) and a moment of peace to attend to fish business. Thank you for your
support.

-Paul

Subject: GSAS support

Hi! I'm Keith Langley, the new manager at Fairwood Pet Center in Renton.
I've been here almost a year, and I've been working to improve our fish
department. I have a strong fish background and although this is and will
remain primarily a dog-oriented store, I want to support local fish
hobbyists and do the best job possible with the 30 freshwater tanks we have.

We'd like to offer 20% off on fish and plants and 10% off on aquarium
supplies to all GSAS members. We'd also like to have some membership forms
that we can give to interested people, and a calendar of events, to help
your club grow. We may be interested in newsletter advertising and in
donating to your auctions.

Since I've been here we've expanded our stock beyond the bread and butter a
bit; we've brought in a few killies, rainbowfish, unusual betta varieties,
less well-known tetras and catfish, and such. We also gladly special-order
anything anyone wants. We don't do much with cichlids (other than community
ones like rams and kribs) as we haven't the space to do them justice. I've
also been reviewing our prices on fish and supplies and bringing them into
line with local competitors - we aren't a deep discount store, but our
prices are reasonable and fair, and where they need to be to keep a locally
owned pet store open.

While there are bigger and better-stocked fish stores in the greater Seattle
area, I'd like you to consider us a convenient, knowledgeable and pleasant
resource for GSAS members in the Renton area. For tricky fish questions,
it's best to visit when I'm working (8-3 Mondays, 12:30-9 Tues-Fri); I'm
working on training our staff but some of them are fairly new to
fishkeeping.

Thanks and hope to see you!

Keith Langley
