[GSAS-board] Plant Auctopsy '09

Hey folks -- check this out -- RECORD YEAR!!!! Here are the stats off the
computer, compared with the previous nine years since we started using the
computers:

Year Bidders Lots Gross $ Splits $ bids per minute
2009 56 381 2365 739 2.4
2008 46 254 1908 721 ~2
2007 42 244 1977 672 ~2
2006 28 267 1195 146 ~3
2005 39 242 1299 194
2004 43 322 1636 453
2003 30 264 1327 265
2002 34 259 1180 150
2001 39 231 1624 403
2000 38 260 1479 413

Standing room only in the big room, very high quality plants, very high
quality auctioneering by Phil, very accurate numbers from the runners
(names of everyone please?), and the oddly-symmetricly-named team of Calye
and Kyleah kept the computers running smoothly as ever. Merrie Jo,
Meredith and Christine all got the hang of the crazy multi-lot auctions. I
only heard of one mistake, and that was a $3 fish tank didn't get signed
off. I think every driver's license was returned tonight.

In terms of auctioneering speed, very good balance of humor and blasting
through things (you'll see it's a bit faster than the past two years).
Note that our general auction typically brings in 300-400 lots, so we
essentially did a general auction's worth of stuff tonight!

Sounds like the camera worked OK. Perhaps will bring that back in April
for smaller items. It actually works better for displaying fish than
it does for plants.

To improve on/problems: Had some trouble integrating the new printer. I
should always make sure to try out new equipment *before* the auction in
the future, even if it means driving out to North Bend!

Here are the remaining folks who have unsettled balances:

Paul Wallace: needs a $42.60 split check mailed
Dave Sanford: needs a $3.60 split check mailed
Daniel Cracud: needs a $14 split check mailed

That's all folks! Great job!
