As Iâve been sending out the âbegging letterâ, for lack of a better term, Iâve

any listing of
their companies on our website. I got this last year, too, when Red Sea sent
us some stuff and
asked for some banners or at least a mention to be placed on our website.

We have ALWAYS provided a list of donor companies on the website after the auction -- kept on for a whole year. In fact, there's a list right now showing all the donors of last year. Take a look. Really. Red Sea is even on there. It's been on there since last year.

In addition, we have always had an individual page listing actual SPONSORS of the club, including links. At one time it had graphics, which I had custom-created by scanning their business cards. I opted to take out the graphics at one point when there were more stores without than with.

I think having a separate page of donors is *great*, and I think it's also cool to have links to them if someone wants to do the work. I also think it is cool to have a graphic from each company listed, again, if someone wants to do the work of gathering all the logos, resizing them appropriately, etc. See for instance, http://www.aquatic-gardeners.org/convention.html

I know there has been some opposition to this in the past, but I would like us
to seriously
reconsider this course of action.

Assuming you mean ME here, there were a few instances in which I have shown opposition to certain banners and links:

cluttery banner ads that we are OBLIGATED to display due to a purchase agreement, and pointless link exchanges with any club that asks us, etc.

Recall that what was asked in the Red Sea case was, "can we put a banner ad for Red Sea on our home page?" I think the answer to that should still be no. Make a separate page for all sponsors, yes. Make sure all sponsors get same treatment and graphics, yes.

For that matter, the webpage could use a redesign, and since I appear to be the
resident
Graphics Guy, I could give it a crack if no one minds. Thoughts on all this?

I'll tell you now, if that new logo ends up on it, I quit. Otherwise, have a blast!

I have been asking the board for years to have someone else take over the content management of the website (and even the hosting and domain name if the board wants). I know I've been doing a half-assed (or quarter-assed) job.
