Hi Christine, On 4/20/09 Margie sent us the following; I
believe $70 is correct. “Dear GSAS'ers, I am inclined to think we should find a way to refund to the buyer,
Mike, the purchase cost of $70 and then have the sale annulled (the seller
doesn't make $ and the club doesn't make $). This was an unusual situation, and
Bob looked pretty moribund while still at SPU. The cold, the stress, etc. were
too much. I had won the bid, but then Mike (one of the other bidders) came up to
me and talked about his 600-gallon tank replete with clown loaches which
allegedly had bred, sans artificial hormones, once already. I felt my
180-gallon clown loach spa was not as good a spot for Bob, whom I assumed was
healthy and ready to rumble, so with considerable regret I agreed to shift off
so that Mike could acquire him from the auction for the winning price. We
settled this before checking out, so Mike was the owner. Then Mike and Phil
went over to Bob's bucket. Oooh. Bob did not look in the mood for petting or,
well, anything. His tail fin was twitching a bit but he did not look, um,
healthy. So I left the premises with hopes for Bob's recovery but also one of
the better fish auction stories. I truly am sorry that Bob did not make it --
he was a spectacular fish. But Mike and I made the shift of winning bidder
before anyone knew about Bob's death spiral and also before checkout. Margie C.” From:
