Re: [GSAS-board] Speaking of SPU and meeting locations...

Hi Paul,

Let me be the first to say that you've done a great job at the helm for the
past several years and you've certainly accomplished goal "A." I don't
often make it to Seattle any more, but I've been watching from afar and you
have been a real leader through some difficult and growing experiences and
you've definitely earned your Life-time membership.

I'm sure it was a hard decision to make, but when you get to the point that
it's no longer FUN, then it's time to let someone else step in. You've been
a good example for those who've served with you on the board - and I imagine
someone will willingly step up to the plate.

Regain the FUN!

Rick

p.s. I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but you left off the first former
President that I knew and worked with: Clay.

Rick:

Thank you for the reminder and believe me, I am very aware that the club was
not built by a single person or a single group but rather the ongoing
efforts of a great number of individuals. I own a debt of gratitude to all
former and current board members for what they did and even allowing me to
be president the past few years. Basically I was looking for the following:

A) Keep the club from failing,
B) Have FUN!

Now that the club is in excellent financial health I see a more normal line
of speakers and activities (and as long as SPU does not find out about the
bite and kick us out) the club will be fine.

But B) is just not there due to the actions of the last few months and
family needs.

So I announce my intention to resign as president after the June elections
to just get out of the way of the next person to lead us to greater things.
I would like to stay on the board (or friend of the board) to wrangle
speakers (a skill I would like to develop).

-Paul (Striving to be more Dave\Eric\Bob\Rick like as are all great!)
