Thank you Paul. It has been “moved”
and “seconded”. I guess we wait for Meredith to call for a
vote of the board. From:
gsas-board-bounces@thekrib.com [mailto:gsas-board-bounces@thekrib.com] On Behalf Of Paul M. Wallace I second the
motion. The last T-Shirt turned into “for profit” when the
treasury ran low with predictable results. I would be happy to prepay for
two in L and XL. -Paul Hi Phil, I have been sitting on the sidelines of
this discussion. Personally, I like the idea of shirts with the Club logo
(maybe on the pocket) and maybe a tasteful illustration of some sort on the
back or sleeve. I also like the idea of a “contest” for an
illustration that reflects the club and its varied interests. Instead of
a “T” shirt, maybe even check into a “Polo” style shirt
if we can get them reasonably. I move that we move ahead with
Phil’s suggestion for a design contest and get some idea on the
pricing…..is there a “Second”? From:
gsas-board-bounces@thekrib.com [mailto:gsas-board-bounces@thekrib.com] On Behalf Of Phil Lacefield Jr. Erik Olson writes: You don't get club shirts to make a profit. You get them because
it's a fun thing and helps advertise the club, and you can use them as gifts
for speakers, etc. Erik is
right, these shouldn't be a for-profit venture. I am more than happy to
store/ship them once/if we get any extras.
Thank you
Erik, that means a lot to me. But to be clear, I don't think I'm anything
special - I'm just a guy wanting to help out :-) I couldn't do anything
without the support of the club and its awesome members. You guys rock! I would
then propose that we put out the word for a shirt design contest. Using
the current logo of course (but I WOULD ask that submissions be allowed to
alter that logo if necessary, for artistic purposes and what have you), and
submissions could be anything from full-blown Illustrator files to sketches on
napkins, as I can translate pretty much anything into a shiny graphic.
Steev, could you put something in the next newsletter, and we could give it,
say, two or three months open submission time? That way, the final
submissions could be in by maybe the plant auction, where we could vote on them
as a club. Once we settle on a final design, I can get prices on silk
screen and embroidery. Happy to
serve, Phil |
