Hi Erik,

I think I agree with Clay, I am concerned how this will appear to our
sponsor stores.  I am not worried about litigation, but once we open the
door to one, we should be willing to open it to all.  

Dave's venture is getting some exposure as it is; I spotted his e-mail
address was "dave@cheapfishstuff.com" on a post he did a while back and I
checked it out.

I know I am not on the Board but hope I qualify as alumni.  I believe that
while this may seem a good idea it can start a precedent that will put the
club in a very awkward position.   I would suggest the Society not go down
this path unless we are prepared to start making tougher and tougher
decisions on what's ok and not ok. This, in turn, can lead to fun in court
rooms if we allow some and not others.  Please do not start down this path.
The potential future disadvantages outweigh the short term advantages.

goes on gsas-member, it would seem OK.  What do you folks think?

For those of you who haven't noticed me (and it's hard not to... I'm
talkative!), I'm Dave.  I've been a freshwater hobbyist on and off for 20+
years or so, and currently have eleven tanks around the house (much to my
significant other's annoyance).

I'm also part of the freshly-started http://www.cheapfishstuff.com,
intended to be a discount, internet-only hobbyist supply store.

I'd like to ask anyone with a few minutes: Are you willing to look over
the web site and give me honest feedback on what you do/don't like about
it?  We know our variety is minimal so far, although we tried to hit the
basic necessities... but what would you change? How do the prices seem?
What are the most glaring shortcomings in what we're offering?

I know we're all busy, and looking us over and commenting is time you
could be spending doing something else.  If you email me any suggestions
we end up adopting, we're glad to offer you $100 worth of merchandise at
our cost to express our thanks.  The merchandise doesn't have to be
something we stock; we're glad to order it if our distributor can provide
it.

Even if you don't have any suggestions, we'd also like to extend a
permanent 10% discount on any purchases by GSAS members... we feel it just
makes good sense to try to support our local hobbyist organization.
Mention that you're a GSAS member in the "special instructions" section
when filling out an order, and we'll refund 10% of your total as part of
