Is this possible and do we want to do it? Yes, you have outlined the points perfectly. Technically, it's a piece of cake to create a webpage that indexes all the torrents. Jesse even "graciously" did one last year, thinking there was a technical reason, before I explained the delimna. So, how do we make something mostly-accessible by only our members? Maybe just obfuscate the name, publish it only in the newsletter, and periodically change it? i.e., "http://www.gsas.org/torrents/index-wombat.html" ? > BTW I mentioned the DVD's that you left Erik and I think all three were sold > for $5 each. You mean, they were given away for $5 donations to the club. ;) That's very important. I *really* don't want future speakers to be getting the impression we're selling them. It cannot be a revenue stream for the club. The material must always freely available to club members... copies always exist in the library. Ad Konings' talk will probably be our first one in two years that we won't be distributing outside of the library DVD/Blu-Ray, because he falls into that category of folks who don't want their material getting 'out there'. We've been very lucky (and had lots of good local speakers who don't mind) for quite a while now. Want to keep it that way... - Erik -- Erik Olson Sent from my crusty old Linux box erik at thekrib dot com _______________________________________________ GSAS-board mailing list GSAS-board@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/gsas-board
