Re: [GSAS-board] Cash value for auction Plants

Dear Roy,

Florida Aquatic Nursery is correct.  I saw a talk at the AGA as to how they do it and I am sold.  Basically a number of smaller tissue culture in Florida sell through FAN.  This page by Dr. Mike gives a good overview and group activity in tissue culture.  (Yes, I am temped!)

Sam is a guy.  He has contacts with the wholesalers and places our order through Africans’s Northwest.  I am communicating over email with him and will send the $ when we know.  I have never met him or seen him at a meeting but he always comes through.   As the order is placed early Feb we can change, but I am breaking the habit of last minute and failed communication.

If the posters for the Feb auction are ready I would be happy to send them to my fancy color laser and bring them to the meeting for distribution.  I remember we had a list and MEMBERS to visit the store.  Sounds like a task for someone whom can have more than two thoughts at one.

Hi Paul,

Sorry, who is Sam and what is FAN, Florida Aquatic Nursery?  Is that where we are getting the plants again this year?

If I remember correctly we had excellent attendance last year, a lot of plants, and we raised a lot of money for the club.  In fact I think someone said it was the most successful plant auction ever.  If we promoted the GSAS Plant Auction on Craig’s List and a couple of the planted aquarium websites effectively we might need more room.  Meredith which room is currently “booked” for in February?

Sam made it happen!  The plants were direct from FAN and delivered the day of to stay “fresh.”  We need a $ and pick up the day of.   The number is generally $300-350.

The FAN order for the April auction with a square foot or cobra grass was a donation (Thanks Phil).

Hi Paul, Board, et al,

Where did we get the excellent plants that we had last year and what was the budget?

Dear Board, I would like to contact Africans northwest to order plants for Feb.  Do we have a cash value in mind?  Once I see what is available I will make specific requests.
