I am in north Seattle near Whole Foods.  I can give you contact information off list if you so desire.  You are correct about HAP/BAP.  I am working of the posted rules http://www.gsas.org/#contests and as a carrot I will be pulling clipping out of my tank to bring as prizes.  I think there is one more prize for HAP available.  You are welcome to try as many plants as I can spare as I find that if you give enough light and nutrients plants can be grown in just about anything.  I assume that hard water means chiclids so they might be your bigger problem.

I am also inviting several plant nuts to my house on the Monday the 18th.  We organized off of theplantedtank.net but there is always room for a few more nuts.  We did the tripple door last month complete with guided tour.  Contact me off list and I will send out the formal invite.
