I am so excited! I finally got Altum angelfish! I got the last 6 at my
favorite fish store in West Seattle. They have been trying to order some
for me for about a month but kept getting shipments that were delayed at
the airport, causing them to die. They ordered 10 yesterday and I got
6. They are VERY nice looking fish, and I am trying to take great care
that most of them survive. The man it King's discus gave me some info
long beforehand, and told me only about 20% survive. These have already
been through a 3 month quarantine (and I am quarantining them), so
hopefully the survival rate will be higher. Does any one have any tips on
keeping them? I have learned that they need a low PH (I have it at 6.4
right now and am trying to gradually lower it), higher temps (I have it at
81 and am going to raise it to 84 gradually), and lots of privacy. I have
them in a 40g tank by themselves with plants. I have wanted Altums ever
since I saw the amazing fish at King's discus, so I am very excited. I
took some pics of them if anyone wants to see. Sorry... they aren't the
best quality photos. I am keeping the lights off on their tank, and the
room lighting very dim so that it won't be stressful.
