We just lost the Emperor Tetra we have had for several
years. I had something going through this tank, and it
wiped out almost all the fish. I had bought some
guppies, and am affraid it came with them...
Tell me about it. I just had something similar happen very recently...
some kind of crud came in with new fish, and within a couple of days it
had killed my two favorite fish (ropefish). Whatever it was, it was
fast, and it only got the normally very hardy ropefish.
Ich also popped up at that time, so I had to crank up the heat and add
salt. Tropical fish tolerate that treatment pretty well, but I still
lost a female opaline gourami and a clown loach. The last time that
happened, the casualty was a sole bamboo shrimp. There's no cure that
doesn't kill just a little...
If I were smart, I would spend some money and effort on a q-tank. But
when you stay lucky year after year you get lazy.
There is always something new to learn in this hobby.
