Club: The club is very fortunate to suddenly have a large quantity of Turface available thanks to the efforts of Susan. Please see the newsletter for my take on Turface or post picture here if you have made a swap yourself. While Turface is very popular elsewhere in the nation as a inexpensive source of black substrate. The planted tank people are also finding that Turface works like Fluorite (baked montmorillonite clay) and Black is always cooler than brown. [Note that even Fluorite is now available black (at Fluorite prices).] As this item is heavy and generally sold by the pallet, getting just a single bag very difficult to the Pacific NW has been difficult. Susan stepped up and ordered a number of bags that are now sitting in her garage. Please consider buying a bag or two ($25 for 50lb, enough for 1X 75 gal).
