I've also given Paradise Fish as gifts. You can keep one in a very small container and
they seem quite happy. It's a great fish to keep in a bowl on your desk at work because
they are hardier and more active than a Betta, and can survive lower temperatures. Kids
fall in love with them because they will eat out of your hand. You can teach them to
jump for food, and that amazes even the adults. And ... color and finnage on an adult
paradise fish is more impressive than your average fish.

There are no bad fish; only bad tanks (I just made that up).
