Hi Paul, I've already done all this *&Q@#$ last week. I'm at 2.4.1 (freakin' QWEST folks won't put up 2.4.2 on their site), and I've set web disable just like they said (and hundreds of other folks on a deja.com search). It doesn't work. At least once a day the modem gets frozen up again. I think there's something else they either don't know about or aren't telling. If it takes them sending a new modem to me to get it fixed, so be it... meanwhile, I've got 20 minutes left to wait on my 80 minute tech support hold time. I'm also considering rigging up a ping check every 10 minutes, and if the ping fails, kill power to the modem for 10 seconds and then restore it. This will be my last resort if the tech support guy tells me it "should work". Given that they're referring to it as the "Red Code Virus" instead of the "Code Red Worm", I am unfortunately suspecting the worst... if you have more ideas (or know where I can get 2.4.2), PLEASE share (off-list). So for everyone else listening in, that's why the Krib, GSAS, and the mailing lists keep coming and going recently. - Erik On Mon, 6 Aug 2001, Paul M.
