Re: Eurgggh! Cyclops infestation!

I should have added that, lest you question the zeal with which I speak of eradicating cyclops (and to head off anyone who may be considering culturing them as a source of live food), most of the Google results for "cyclops crustacean" concern the critical role that cyclops plays as an intermediary host for Guinea worm. That's the one you have to roll out of your body on a stick.

I stuck my hands in the fry tank a few days ago. Suffice it to say, now I'll probably be checking my feet for ulcers every morning for the next 12 months.

Again I say, eurgggh!

Anyone know how to get RID of a population of that small carnivorous crustacean known as cyclops? I just peered into what's SUPPOSED to be my fry tank, and found it fairly filled with the little buggers!

Fortunately there aren't any fry in that tank. Okay, that's a lie; there's a few dozen White Cloud fry. But that was an accident.

Anyway, what on earth can I do to eradicate the cyclopseses? The main feature of the fry tank is a big wad of Java Moss lookalike (Glossadelphus) so no introduction of fish will take care of the cyclops problem, as there's simply too many places to hide. I'm looking for a treatment that will spare the Glossadelphus, which may be too delicate to handle a copper treatment.

Grr! Stupid copepods!
