I had my first meeting with GSAS on Tuesday night. I am not sure who brought the fish for the giveaway, so I'll thank you all for the great fish I won in the raffle. Unfortunately I don't have a QT tank right now so I went ahead and added the keyhole cichlid to my community tank after doing some research on the web and confirming that he is, indeed, peaceful. I looked him over and he looks to be in wonderful health. He ate the very first night soon after I added him to my tank. Frozen bloodworms, yum! He gets along with all of my other fish, and is actually quite shy. He's actually my first cichlid ever and I would say he just might be the most peaceful fish in my tank. Who knew cichlids could be so sweet? Not me :] The way he swims is fascinating. To sum it all up, I'm really enjoying him! I am also wondering if any of you would be interested in a message board to use to communicate with GSAS members. I was thinking it would be a very easy and organized way to keep track of messages, do searches for specific topics, share photos, etc. If that interests some of you let me know. I have a website with quality hosting and it would be very easy for me to set up a message board for GSAS. The format is actually the same as the one that PSAS uses if you want to take a look. http://www.thepsas.org/ I haven't signed up to bring anything for the potluck at the Christmas party because I'm not sure if Ben and I will be able to make it yet. I'll ask for ideas on what's needed once I can confirm that I'll be able to attend. It was nice to (briefly, kind of) meet you all!
