Yes I knew Algea Destroyer was different. I only used it as a last resort....after trying all the other things, water changes, no light, blocking sunlight, covering tank to keep dark....then tried the algea destroyer......it didn't do anything....so then decided to try stripping the tank....used new substrate, new filter media, new decorations, and this seemed to do the trick. This was about a year ago now, and haven't had problems since....So not sure what had casued the problem in the first place...for it just happened....Had been told that hydrogen peroxide can be used as well, and also a uv filter...but didn't want to go to that expense....
