There sometimes are little auctions at the end of general meetings. It varies quite a lot depending on whether someone is, say, selling all their aquariums so they can become crazy nomads and live all over the country, or if someone just grabs some fry that are getting a bit big . Actually, back in the late 90's, we didn't really even do them as auctions, it was more like "so-and-so has fish if you want to trade or buy". Now if you go to Portland, you'll see a hardcore club in this respect -- their BAP requires the members to bring in the fry for auction in order to receive credit. These auctions take up a major part of the meeting (can be up to an hour).
