Kate, my wife and I used to keep Goulds. We typically used the Society Finches as surrogates. We did end up hand feeding several babies though. Goulds are can actually be pretty good parents once they learn how. We found that after the 2nd or third time we could usually get them to take care of their young if we handfed the babies in the nest box while it was still in the flight. If we had any that intentionally killed the babies they were instantly sold as pets so that they wouldn't pass that trait on to the babies. What colors do you have? My brother might be interested in some Goulds again. BTW: To keep this slightly on topic. Does anyone have one of those 100 Gallon Rubbermaid Horse Troughs they want to sell? I need to tear down my reef and redo it. The DSB has died and I want to start over. Thanks! They are terrible parents and there are no buyers around here, I can't get anyone to show up unless they are "free to good homes" My next deal will be buy one get one free starting in 2 weeks... they take up a lot of space too, you can't keep them in little cages like a canary. I have society finches too, which are better but very messy. I have way too many pets-37 fish tanks and 10 cages of birds, and need to cut WAY back :) So I am going to try and get rid of all the finches by the end of the year, maybe sooner as I will probably have to move soon. Anyone want a deal on gouldians? Got a ton of killies here that need to go too, mostly young gardneri Misaje, gardneri Lafia gold, and Aphyosemion striatum. Angels too, still got 20 or more. They will probably all go to The Fish Store next Tuesday. Heterandria formosa still coming out my ears, anyone want them? I haven't had a job since March so can't justify feeding and paying rent for a room full of fish and birds. Kate Holly wrote: >Oh my gosh, I LOVE Gouldians. Do you have just 1 breeding pair?
