Re: lateral line disease in freshwater fish

Kate-
Angels don't usually get fin infections unless the water is getting bad.
Columnaris bacteria are about the worst and will eat up the fins leaving only
the
rays behind.
Lateral line infections in angels is usually on or near the head, rarely any
further down the body. True, sometimes there is hexamita (spironucleus) and
sometimes not. You can kill the Hexamita and not cure the fish, and you can cure
the fish without killing the Hexamita. But in angelfish you should probably
treat
for Hexamita anyway because they are so likely to have it and suffer from it.

But is there something else going on? Is there an obvious infection all along
the
lateral line and on the sides? Maybe she introduced some new fish lately and
brought in the "Angelfish Disease" aka Discus Plague. That would explain why
there is a problem with the fins AND the body.
