Sandy-

I don't know if you need to or not. But have been
reading it is good to add it to their water. I may add
the cichlid vital I have, it has iodine and vitamins
as well....

The one which had started to shed it's shell, is dead,
and the other has been eating on it, very happily I
might add. 

It appears, it started to shed it's shell, and then
got stuck, in the process, which I read as well is
rather common.
