Although I've been getting spawns about every 5-6 days from one tank containing 1 M and 2 F wild-type honey gouramis, I've not had success in getting the fry to survive. However, in starting to clean out the rearing container I was using, I lifted out the hornwort....there was ONE little fishy roughly 1/2" in size with little feeler pectorals, and a stripe running along the side! This fish was probably from my August spawn. What a cutie. It looks like it's already taking atmospheric air, so hopefully passed that critical stage when the labyrinth organ becomes functional. Fingers crossed that I have at least ONE home-reared gourami <G>! I moved some of the 2 day old fry from my spawning tank to a new rearing tank....so we'll see if I can get more than one to survive this time!
