Microworms, vinegar eels, baby brine shrimp Susan -----Original Message----- From: gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com [mailto:gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com] On Behalf Of A JACOBSON Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 7:08 PM To: Greater Seattle Aquarium Society member chat Subject: [GSAS-Member] Blue rams spawned again I didn't expect my rams to spawn only 2 weeks after their first spawn (which was eaten by them shortly after it was laid), but Friday night there they were guarding eggs on the side of the tank, and by Saturday I could see quite a few developing. Sunday late afternoon they were still all there, but Sunday night they were gone -- don't know if they hatched and were moved, or if they were eaten. Since then the parents have been guarding a space I can't get a good look at, so there might still be a brood, or not . . . Anyway, if I am suddenly confronted with free-swimming fry, what am I supposed to feed them? Also, given that the eggs were laid on Friday sometime, is it possible they hatched Sunday afternoon? (I keep the tank at 80 degrees). Or am I worrying about nothing? And if they are likely to have hatched on Sunday, when might I expect free-swimming fry? I am hurrying as fast as I can on setting up the 55 gallon and moving all the other residents to it, at which point I'm hoping / expecting some successful spawns. The other pair has stopped driving each other away, and are instead making shimmying gestures towards each other . . .
