"electra"

Normal latext based house paint isn't a problem, I've painted in rooms with
tanks before.

*HOWEVER*, there is a product called Zinsner 1-2-3 or something like that,
THAT IS POPULAR WITH PAINTERS FOR COVERING WATER STAINS and is *readily*
absorbed by tank water and hazardous to fish. I learned this the really hard

painful way and haven't kept Frontosas since :-( ANything like that, or any
form of shellac, is *BAD NEWS* for fish tanks. If you are not 100% certain
of exactly what they're going to use, I'd move the fish. If you can't,

shut off pumps and filters.
Cover the tank tightly with plastic wrap

Keep the heater on while they're painting. When they're done, air the place
as best as you can, do a big water change and turn everything on. If it's
convenient I'd remove the filters and pumps and stuff too.

Not trying to alarm you but just sharing the benefit of my painful
experience coming home after having some painting done two floors away to a
70% dead fishroom :-( Frontosa, breeding Paracyprichromis nigripinnis,
champion guppies, breeding albino juli ornatus, etc etc. The killies,
goodeids and tougher tanganyikans did fine. Go figure
