Along the lines of what Mark advises, try not to severely prune back your plants, either. That too will throw off the tank nutrient balance. I accidentally did this after the plant auction when I pruned what I had way back to add the new plants. Boom, algae growth in three days. The algae growth became stable again after the new plants had grown out a couple of weeks. Water lettuce and other floating plants help to soak up nutrients, too, and they're easy to scoop out and throw away as they multiply. -----Original Message----- From: gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com [mailto:gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com] On Behalf Of Mark Pearlscott Sent: Wednesday, March 16, 2005 8:35 AM To: Greater Seattle Aquarium Society member chat Subject: Re: [GSAS-Member] Algae control The best solution takes a little effort, and that is to adjust the nutrients in the tank. Usually when you add more plants to an established tank, you toss off the balance.
