Re: [GSAS-Member] Royal Pleco and Algae

I don't know that they have them in stock right now, but J. L. Jones in
Marysville *usually* has Bristlenoses. If you'd like, I can pick one up for
you and bring it to the auction...unless you want/need it before then.

Growing old is inevitable; growing up is optional.

I was wondering if anyone had a Royal Pleco. I've read that their teeth can
scratch acrylic tanks. Does anyone have any personal experience with this fish?

Does anyone know where I can get a bristlenose pleco?

My tank went completely out of wack with the algae after I did several water
changes (fill and empty 3 or 4 times), moved it across the living room (25
feet), broke the $35 actinic bulb, and didn't add liquid fertilizer. I was
wondering if the actinic had UV qualities to kill algae.

It's interesting that some of the plants, which grew real well, like the
bacopa, and a big-leaved crypt, got infested with the algae, while others, like
the Eichhornia diversifolia, the African Lotus, and the reddish plant I got
from Paul are doing great, and algae free. What is that red plant Paul? It
looks wonderful.
