RE: [GSAS-Member] Can algae tablets (fish food) cause algae?

Steev,

I am working on putting an article together on algae. It appears there
are some really good ones that are in TheKrib too.

Algae tablets don't usually have much algae in the first place. There is
Spirulina in some (which is a Cyanobacteria and hard to grow) and kelp
in others (which dies when it gets dry), but most of the ingredients are
fish meal and other non-algae. Check your labels.

So no, I don't think you can grow anything from algae discs or tablets
except fungus. But if you find kelp growing in your tanks I take it all
back.

P.S. The idea of editting the comments down to a "digest" sounds pretty
good. Clays comments could make an article by themselves.
