[GSAS-Member] UV light to control algae
While I had wanted not to make too rapid changes in my setup to reduce
the "algae" clouding my aquarium,
I traded Anita for a 9 watt UV sterilizer, and attached it in line with
my Magnum 360 canister filter about 6 hours ago.
It is not designed for such a large flow of water, as the flow rate
went way down. Still, I'm happy with the results so far.
I can see about twice as far into my tank as before.
I'm still working on getting the nutrients corrected for a permanent
cure, but in the meanwhile, my partner feels heard,
and is appeased.
On another note, I have a 24" light fixture with 2 24" fluorescent
bulbs. I'm looking for another, or even better, a 48"
fixture. I'd be willing to trade my 24" towards the 48".
To reduce the load of emails to the entire list-serve, please feel free
to respond to my email address, rather than the
members list.
