Even if it were possible I'm quite certain that nobody here would ever
intentionally send a virus.  So the answer to "Why are you sending me a
attachment that has a virus?" would likely be "I had no idea.  I didn't mean
to." :)  If anybody needs free antivirus software I recommend AVG and avast!

A lot of infected machines impersonate arbitrary sources, including mailing
lists people are subscribed to.

There is a 75% chance here that Sandy received a virus-laden e-mail from
someone's infected machine who is subscribed to gsas-member.

Interestingly, the other 25% is that the message I'm replying to didn't even
come from Sandy (or any human) at all, but is in fact itself a virus-bearing
e-mail.

[OK, I just looked at the headers... the e-mail probably did come from
Sandy, so it's the first case.]

So ONCE AGAIN... You'll never get a virus from this mailing list.  We 
strip out all attachments.   If you get a virus that appears to come from 
this list, it didn't.
