Re: [GSAS-Member] Greater Seattle Aquarium Society

Hi Jason,

Let me post this on our members list and see what kind of answer(s) we can
get for you.

Clay, et al, Does this sound like an axolotl to you?

Hi, Rick.

I found your GSAS site and hope to find an answer that I'm not finding on
the web as I look.

My friends and I ate lunch Friday in a restaurant that had a freshwater
aquarium near the door. There were one or two Rope Fish in the aquarium,
but I thought the waitress was misusing the term because the fish really did
have front legs with elbows and fingers.  They weren't just handlike fins;
they were hands. The heads were flattened like catfish with gills, but I
still thought it might be a freaky long salamander variety.

The long body was flattened like a tadpole's tail, and there were no hind
legs.

Do any Rope Fish actually have bona fide legs?

Thanks in advance for any information you may have.

Regards,
