For the last few years I have been maintaining a 55 gal. tank at a local nursing home. GSAS provided the complete setup as a philanthropic project back in about 2003. Next month my wife and I are moving to Anacortes and I won't be able to take care of the tank anymore, so if anyone who might be interested in taking on this project could contact me I will provide further details. The tank is located in the skilled nursing facility at Providence Mt. St. Vincent in West Seattle. This is not your typical nursing home."The Mount" is a warm, cheerful community run by a very upbeat, caring staff. This is the place you would want your family members to live, should the need arise. The tank has been remarkably trouble free. It's a platted tank stocked with fairly tough fish - tetras, barbs, rainbows etc. The maintenance consists of cleaning the algae off the sides and topping off the water weekly, cleaning the filter (sponge) about once a month, and occasional pruning / thinning of plants and water changes. There are other tanks throughout the campus, all serviced by a commercial outfit. I have been told over and over that "our tank" is the favorite by far because it is so natural rather than a box of fish and rocks. I have found my experience at the Mount to be very rewarding in many ways and really do hate to leave. Please email me or call if interested. 206-938-1583.
