Thanks all who came this year! It was a great day and swimming through the forest of milfoil was great. I found three live "Trapdoor Snails", which according to an employee at the Fish Store are hard to find. Also there were Perch, a big round silver fish, that had the body of a Pumpkinseed, but was much bigger and it scooted off into the plants before I could get a better look. The smaller fish were long and silvery, some with black tips on the tailfin. Others had faint vertical barring. There was a large school by the dock that was unafraid of me. Some little fish swam up to me. If I only brought some pellets to feed them like I tried last year at Lake Stevens. It was too murky there when I went the second time, so it didn't work. But Lake Washington was very clear, and there were lovely red vals. It almost looked like there were trails in the milfoil weeds and down below I could see low-growing green vals. So far I am having success growing one thin-leaved green grassy plant from Lake Sammamish. I've heard the red vals die, but we'll see. I anyone wants to go snorkeling with me before summer ends, I have two extra masks and a snorkel. I'd like to try Silver Lake next. It was great fun for my family and me. Thank you especially to Susan for doing a great job of getting truckloads of stuff to the picnic so that we could have a picnic. Susan brought so much stuff we had to haul it in on a flatbed cart. Thank you to all the others that brought all the other foods as well, there were all kinds of great goodies to munch. Thanks also to those that took pictures this year....it was great that you captured the day.....and what a warm day it was too. Thanks to everyone who came and shared the beautiful day with all of us. Finally, thanks to Woody for the great pics and stories about his collecting trip to Mexico. Woody, if you ever find a van with air conditioning and need an extra person to hold a net....let me know. That area you went to collect fish in was amazingly beautiful. Oh, and thanks for the salmon too, it was delicious.
