Re: [GSAS-Member] Storm Power Outages

You are lucky Susan! I lost about 70% of my fish. All except 2 of the african cichlids and all but 2 angels. I couldn't get out of the house for a while because my neighborhood was blocked by fallen trees, and when I did, all the stores by my house were closed. I tried to keep the tanks warm with blankets and making a fire, but on the 2nd day with no heat the tank water reached below 58 and they finally started to go. :( I hope everyone else's tanks did better.

How is everyone doing after this storm? My power was out for three days. My
discus tank dropped down to 68 degrees on the last day, baby Peacock
Gudgeons 65 degrees. I think all the stored energy in the water kept my
apartment at 66 degrees while it was 26 outside.

I took apartment my canister filter and cleaned it soon after the power was
out, so as not to pollute the tank when it turned on. I had two battery
operated Azoo air pumps so I used one on the discus and one on the
guppy/shrimp tank.

I've heard Honda Generators are by far the best. Any thoughts on this? Hope
everyone and their fish are doing okay.

Susan
