Okay:

I'm reducing the valve pressure to 10 psi and shutting off the flow at the
main needle valve tonight.

Actually, there's absolutely nothing wrong with turning the needle valves 
off, or adding a cut-off valve downstream of them (Paul's strategy). 
Pressure does NOT build up, because the regulator regulates(!) everything 
downstream of it at a constant pressure, whether it be 1 bubble per second 
or one gallon per minute.
