[GSAS-Member] Panda Corys
Hi. I am wondering if anyone would like some young Panda Corys about 3~4
month old bred by me. About 3/4" TL and 1/4" wide. I could bring to the
meeing this month if anyone interested.
I would like $2/fish(cash please) and it is highly recommended group of 6 or
more. Since they do better in their own group. I could get more if I bring to
the store but I prefer that they would be kept by good hobbist. So I try here
first.
Also, before you consider adopting them. I will like you to read the
condition I am keeping them.
I kept 4 adults(it happened to be 1 male and 3 females) in 5 G with powerhead
with sponge(rated 550L or 145GPH) probably little less since have sponge on the
intake. They do enjoy the cool water with good current that they are
originally from the base of river in high ground(mountain) I read.
The tank had no heater but had 1 incandecent bulb and 1 compact florecent.
So temperature hover from 68F~75F or so. I turn on the light in the morning
and turn off when I go to bed. So light does warm the water some during the
day and cool down a little at night just like in the Nature.
The water is Seattle tap so around 7 ph.
Don't know the gh since my "master test kit " don't have test for it.
There are some layer of fine sand with some bogwood with Java Fern and
Java/X'mas moss. Some Frogbit, Riccia and Duckweed.
They have been laying eggs every 4~5 days. About 15~20 each time. Pandas
are not big as some of the Cory species.
Now I have 2 tanks(5,10) with Pandas. One with 3 Hill Stream Loaches since I
believe their optimal condition is similar.(cool water, high oxygen and good
current. I am considering white cloud minnor and cherry shrimp as tankmate
also. If I decide to set another tank or move to bigger tank.
The reason I list those condition because I think they do better in the
condition I listed. I'm sure they can do fine with typical community set up.
Around 75F around 7 ph with peaceful small tankmates like Tetras or Rasboras.
But they do prefer cooler water with current from my experience.
I have about 20~30 youngs ready to go to new home. Either $2/fish or
consider some trade.
I could trade with another Panda Corys. You might wonder why but I do want
to broden the gene. I don't want in-breed.
I could have some young Pair or group German/Blue/gold Rams but not Bolivian.
I could have some Corydoras. There are so many out there but depends on what
kind I suppose. I am especially have eyes for Albino Sterbai if anyone have it
and ready to trade. Since my regulars finally start to spawn.
I can have some group of peaceful Tetras. Like Ember(Hyphessobrycon amandae
), rainbow(Nematobrycon lacortei ) or Rummy-nose(Hemigrammus rhodostomus or
Hemigrammus bleheri )
But I may be interested in what you have.(you never know and never hurt to
ask) So if you are interested in young Panda Cories, please let me know. So I
can figure how many group I should bring to the meeting.
Thanks Hiro
