Re: [GSAS-Member] preditors?

  Hi Meredith,

How many Neons and Corys did you start with? And what size were they?
And how long were they in there?
Did you quarantine them? Although this is not likely the problem since you
said you didn't see the symptom of sick/illness.
What the temperature? And water parameter?

I don't see any fish would kill other on your list. However the Neons like
many other tetras they would pick the weaker in the group or try to establish
their pecking order. Especially they are kept in smaller group. So ideally
kept in nice group of 6+ so the aggression is spread among them.

I know if any fish die in your tank, others(tetras, corys and BN) will
definately dispose the body. And they can do so in a day or so.

And you mentioned the jungle of plants. They are not hiding in the thicket
of plants?
I mean, I did big water change in my community tank yesterday and I was
suprised to see all the Neons come out when the water did lowerd to half the
tank and they gatherd in the group. I mean, my tank is not super jungle but
they do find the way to scatter and do their own fishy thing to do most of the
time. They can be sneaky hiding artist sometime. It is just a thought.

My population of neon tetras and baby cories has gone down dramatically in my
kitchen 10

No bodies seen by human eyes
No evidence of illness or unusual behavior
no bodies behind the tank or on the floor
sponge covers on the filter intake
jungle of plants

possible problem fish?
one 3-4 inch bristle pleco
2 red eye tetras
2 albino corries

I've moved the surviving neons and babies to another tank
any idea what may have eaten my fish?
