Re: [GSAS-Member] Micro Shrimp

  Hi All,

I am the one who sold the Cherry Shrimps to Cliff in June. And as far as I
know they are pure Cherry Shrimps which I got off internet.

And about the hybrid, some of the shrimps are known to hybrid if the 2
species from same family kept together in same tank. The fresh water shrimps
are classified in 2 major groups. One is Neocaridina and the other is Cardina.
And if you keep the shrimps from 2 Neocaridina or 2 Cardina, you are risking
creat some hybrid.

If the Zebra Shrimps are from the Chinese, they are different family from
Red Cherry Shrimps. So they would not hybrid.
But I believe Zebra and Crystal Red or Bee shrimp, they are from close
family and there is a chance of hybrid.

This is what I learned from reading the shrimp forums.

    I hope this help.

I'm sure you can find more information on the 2 links listed. They are 2
Shrimp forum I find it useful.

                           Hiro.

P.S. Cliff, I am glad to hear that your cherry is doing good. I TOLD YOU
SO. You would have more than you know what to do with.

My shrimp were all sold to me as cherries, so I think they do (that or I
just got a mixed batch?).

However, according to the site mentioned in that last post, tigers will
cross breed with Bee Shrimp, the Chinese Zebra Shrimp and the Crystal Red
Shrimp...no mention of the cherry reds.
