Linda- I've seen this happen before, in Angelfish from time to time. I have no idea what causes it, but it seems to be related to the diet, including minerals. But it is rare to reverse the process (floating) once it has started. It's funny that you see this problem around this area but hardly ever hear people complain of it in other parts of the country. I usually isolate the fish and add vitamins (like people vitamins) to the tank or bowl. Changing the diet is the one thing that is reported to help, but I can't really say what it should be changed TO for best results.
