Thanks Cliff, I am pretty excited about. And Good luck with your spawn also. I never had Gudgens but I think the snails are not good news for any fish eggs, I believe. If they have chance to slime into the eggs, I think they would be glad to take a bite. So I usually try to not to have snails when I have fish eggs. And I play safe and try not to have while the frys are still wigglers. But once the frys become free-swimmer, I purposely put some Ramshorn snails so they can clean the left over food. And I don't think the Cherry Shrimps would hurt eggs or frys. But I know they would eat the dead frys or dead friend also. That they would do for sure. But I do not have evidence or nothing. So you might want to play it safe and move the eggs to the environment without the snails or shrimps. Or you can leave it as it is and see what happen. I came home to something similar...the Peacock gudgeons I bought from Susan four months back or so have decided to spawn, and these are my first egg-layers. The male used to think he needed to pick on everything else in the tank, but now he's just hovering in his PVC pipe sanctuary, without ever coming out. I'm not holding my breath this time around, but hopefully I'll see a few fry. Does anyone with cherry shrimp or large ammounts of snails (ramshorn and trumpet, mostly) think they would pose a threat to the eggs? I wasn't sure if I should temporarily move his PCV pipe to a spare "fry" tank or if moving it would make him harm the eggs? Cliff > Thanks Linda, > > Yes indeed it is pretty cool.
