Re: [GSAS-Member] Hospital Tank?

This is great feedback.

To be clear...are you saying I can just put salt in the tank with everybody
else who may not be sick? I have two guppy females, 20 fry and about 20
various small shrimp.

1 tsp/gallon. For how many days before water change?

SHouldn't need a hospital tank just for this. A small plastic container
floated in the main tank (so the temp equalizes) with a slow dribble of air
and regular water changes should be fine, plus it restricts the meds to just
a small volume of water.

A white fuzzy patch sounds like fungus. I'd treat with 1 tsp/gallon of
kosher salt, which shouldn't affect anything. You almost never need fish
medications except for rare weirdnesses like camellanus (intestinal worms,
which comes from tubifex or blackworms, usually, and are common enough in
Discus that one good brand of drug for this was called Disco-Med by Aq.
pharmaceuticals), and occasionally fluke tabs to kill hydra (a problem if
you feed lots of live foods, more of an annoyance to the fish but only a
hazard to fry.)
